Gum Disease Prevention
75% of adult tooth loss is caused by gum
disease.
Gum disease is caused by the colonization of bacteria
underneath the tartar on your teeth. By products
produced by the bacteria cause infection which
then
causes your gums to recede. Often there are no
noticeable symptoms for a long time. While bleeding
is often
normal during brushing and flossing, it is typically
a sign of infection.
Dr. Alfe believes in a proactive approach to gum
disease prevention through the use of soft tissue
management.
The key to prevention is to wage war against the
bacteria! Over the years, Dr. Alfe has helped
many of her patients
avoid gum surgery.
