Because Dr. Alfe knows that most people really DON’T like going to the dentist, she has designed her Chicago dental office so that even the most nervous or fidgety patient can relax. Here, in no particular order (okay, it’s alphabetical), are just some of the amenities she has to offer her patients during their visit:
- Body Pillows for your neck, under your knees, lower back-many different styles to choose from

- Clear or Dark Glasses
- Eye Masks-Cool Gel or Soft Satin
- Headphones for either music or movies
- Lavender Neck Pillows which can be served warm or cool
- Massaging Back Pillows
- Massaging Booties
- Regular Slippers
- Warm Booties for chilly feet during our Chicago winters
- Warm Mittens for chilly hands, with or without hand cream
Dr. Alfe knows that for many patients, the sounds of dentistry can be the most distressing. To help you block out the noise during your visit, we offer personal headphones and a wide variety of movies and sitcoms, ranging from “Seinfeld” to “Friends”, Saturday Night Live specials, animated specials, comedies and dramas. And if nothing on our list tickles your fancy, feel free to bring in a DVD of your choice to watch during your visit as well! Each of our chairs has a computer monitor attached so that you can have an up-close and personal screening of whichever DVD you choose to watch. Many of our patients have said that this alone makes the visit fly by. And most of our patients who have children at home tell us that this is the only time they get to sit down and watch something relatively uninterrupted!
If music is your thing, you can use our headphones to listen to one of our CDs or one of your own. Of course, since Dr. Alfe treats only one patient at a time (again, no assembly line dentistry done here!), you are usually the only patient in the office during most of your visit. That means that we can play your CD on our stereo without having to worry about bothering anyone else!
If all of this is still not enough to make you feel calm and relaxed while you are here, Dr. Alfe can prescribe oral medication that will reduce your anxiety. She will monitor your blood pressure and breathing during your visit if you choose this option.
