Dental Cleanings with our Dentist in Chicago

Serving Chicago, Lakeview, Lincoln Park, and surrounding areas in Illinois

Dental cleanings are an essential part of your preventive dentistry routine. Visiting our Lincoln Park area office every three to six months (depending on your particular gum condition) allows us to remove stubborn plaque and tartar from your teeth and gums, and to ensure you are free of common oral health issues. During these visits, Dr. Gerilyn Alfe may utilize advanced dental technology such as the DIAGNOdent to detect cavities along with other diagnostic tools to ensure you are free of more dangerous oral health issues.

If you live in the greater Chicagoland area and would like to schedule a dental cleaning, please contact Chicago Smile Spa or call (773) 348-2704today to schedule your appointment with Dr. Gerilyn Alfe.

At Home Routine

Your regular visits to our comfortable dental office in Chicago are not enough to ensure optimal oral health. To help guard against common oral health issues, you must be committed to your daily dental hygiene routine.

Your daily routine should consist of:

  • Brushing your teeth after every meal and snack – Dr. Alfe will discuss the best type of toothbrush and toothpaste for your smile during your regularly scheduled visits
  • Flossing in between every tooth – This should be done at least once a day, but twice is ideal for preventing gum disease
  • Avoiding sugary and processed foods and beverages – Foods and drinks high in sugar or simple carbohydrates aren’t good for your teeth. Try to minimize your consumption of these items and to brush immediately when you do consume them

These steps, taken daily, will help keep your teeth and gums healthy for years to come.

Clean Teeth & Dental Cleanings Do Matter

Clean teeth and gums are important for avoiding issues such as bad breath, tooth discoloration, and even tooth loss. However, not taking care of your teeth and gums can have significant consequences well beyond issues of oral health.

There is a direct link between oral health and systemic health. Several studies have shown that gum disease and tooth infection can increase your risk for heart disease, respiratory problems, systemic infections, premature birth and low birth-weight, and complications with diabetes. One of the easiest ways to prevent these issues is by adopting a consistent dental cleaning routine. Dr. Alfe would be happy to discuss dental cleanings with you in greater detail during your regularly scheduled appointment.

To learn how preventive dentistry and dental hygiene can help protect your systemic health, please contact Chicago Smile Spa today to schedule an appointment with Dr. Alfe.  Our dentist in Chicago is proud to serve patients throughout the greater Chicagoland area including Lakeview, Lincoln Park, and surrounding Chicago communities.
